When religion uses fear mongering to sway people to do something, those in charge should be prosecuted. How is scaring people into doing something via religion any different from waving a gun in their face? Of course, waving a gun in the face of nearly anyone will sway them to do the most amazing things, while fear mongering through religion only works on the brainwashed.
The current fear mongering is quite odd, to say the least. Currently, there are those Christians who believe that if Obama comes to office the rapture will soon follow. Of course, talk of the rapture is very common in tough times, and it doesn't get much worse than now, but what does Obama have to do with anything? Christianity is a very aggressive religion, but American Christians are verging on Evil at times. Their open support of the Iraq war, war with Iran and electing McCain, a warmonger, for president just crosses all lines. Maybe with the next generation Christianity will either become more peaceful, or better yet simply less in number.
